Dean Ambrose (c) vs Baron Corbin - Intercontinental Championship: WrestleMania 2017 Winner, video highlight and analysis

Dean Ambrose had a tough challenge against Baron Corbin

Dean Ambrose defeated Baron Corbin to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

Baron Corbin started off the match by shoving Ambrose. In an instant, the action was taken briefly outside. Corbin dominated for a while until he ran straight into the ring post. It didn’t take long for The Lone Wolf to gain back control, and Ambrose relied on high flying moves to get Corbin down.

The first near fall came after a Deep Six from Corbin onto Ambrose. The finish of the match saw Corbin attempt an End Of Days onto Ambrose, but The Lunatic Fringe countered it and hit the Dirty Deeds onto Corbin for the pin.

The feud between the two began at Elimination Chamber when Ambrose eliminated Corbin in the chamber match. Corbin attacked Ambrose, beginning their feud. Their story furthered at a Battle Royal when Ambrose once again got Corbin’s number by eliminating him.

Baron Corbin was heavily predicted and even favoured to win days before WrestleMania. However, it looks like plans changed at WWE, and they decided that the title was best kept on The Lunatic Fringe. It will be interesting to see what’s next for Ambrose, as his feud with Corbin may have concluded.

Many fans would argue that Corbin would have benefitted more from the win at WrestleMania, but it seems like WWE still has big plans for The Lone Wolf going forward.

This match was moved to the Kickoff show in the last minute.
