Jonathan David Good is an American Professional wrestler and Actor, who is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He is known by his ring name Jon Moxley in AEW & Dean Ambrose in WWE. Moxley used to work for Les Thatcher at the Heartland Wrestling Promotion (HWA). He used to assist the association by selling popcorn and setting up the ring. He eventually started his pro-wrestling training in 2004 under the training of Thatcher and Cody Hawk. He made his in-ring debut after a few months under the ring name Jon Moxley. He won the HWA Tag team Championship twice and HWA Heavyweight Championship thrice.
Moxley then started wrestling for multiple independent wrestling promotions such as, International Wrestling Association (IWA), Dragon Gate USA (DG-USA), Full Impact Pro’s (FIP), and Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). Moxley has also won the IWA World Tag Team Championship, FIP World heavyweight Championship once, and CZW World Heavyweight Championship twice. Moxley simultaneously wrestled multiple Dark matches in Ring of Honor (ROH). Moxley then was invited to sign a developmental contract with WWE and was assigned to work for the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW).
Moxley debuted as a heel and challenged FCW Jack Brisco 15 Champion Seth Rollins for a title match. Moxley had a long term feud with Rollins and even cost Rollins FCW 15 Championship. He had a feud with the veterans of the business, William Regal and Mick Foley but ended in a no contest. Moxley had also wrestled in Dark matches of NXT and was soon called for the main roster.
He made his main roster debut in 2012 at Survivor Series pay-per-view under the name of Dean Ambrose along with other shield members Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The trio attacked Ryback and triple-powerbombed him on the announce table to help CM Punk retain the WWE Championship. They introduced themselves as “The Shield” and claimed themselves as the Hounds of Justice. The Shield made their in-ring debut at the TLC PPV and won the Six Man TLC match against Ryback and Team Hell No. Ambrose began to compete in the singles match and lost his first match against The Undertaker. He then challenged Kofi Kingston for the United States Championship at Extreme Rules PPV and won it.
Being the first member of The Shield to win a Championship in the main roster. Ambrose broke the record for the longest reigning United States Champion surpassing MVP with a reign of 351 days. The Shield aligned themselves with The Authority as a heel. The trio after having a long feud with The Wyatt Family, turned face and stood against The Authority, Triple H then had a stable with Batista and Randy Ortan and brought “The Evolution” back. Triple H forced Ambrose to defend his title on a 20 man Battle Royal and made him lose the title. The Shield had their revenge on The Evolution, at PayBack PPV and won. The following night Seth Rollins betrayed Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose and aligned himself with The Authority. Dean Ambrose started a long time feud with Seth Rollins. Ambrose then tried to capture the WWE World heavyweight Championship but failed on multiple occasions but failed ultimately.
Ambrose then won the Money in the bank contract in 2016 and cashed it on Seth Rollins the same night to become the WWE World heavyweight Championship for the first time. He then lost the title to AJ Styles after 3 months at Backlash after Styles hit Ambrose with a low blow and Styles Clash. He then tried to recapture the title but failed. He then turned his focus over The Miz’s Intercontinental Champion and won the title for the second time. He held the title for 152 days and got defeated by The Miz. The feud with The Miz continued for months, and Dean Ambrose got punished by The Miz and The Miztourage.
Seth Rollins came for the aid of Ambrose multiple times, but Ambrose never had trust in Rollins. After a month, Dean and Rollins reunited as a team and captured the Raw Tag Team Championship from The Bar, thus both became the Grand Slam & Triple Crown Champions. They lost the title to The Bar on the Raw before Survivor Series by the interference of The New Day. They then had the revenge on the New Day on the PPV. Ambrose then was out of action for 9 months due to triceps injury with a new look and more muscular physique. He then backed up Rollins and Roman Reigns but soon turned on Rollins and turned heel for the first time since 2014.
Ambrose then defeated Rollins to capture the Intercontinental Championship for the third time. He then lost the title and got frustrated by the creative and decided to leave WWE once the contract expires.
The Shield then reunited for the last time and a special pay per view “The Shield’s Final Chapter” was announced, where The Shield defeated Corbin, Lashley & McIntyre and Ambrose's contract with WWE expired.
He then changed his name on Social Media handles to tease the return of Jon Moxley gimmick and posted a video on twitter. He then made his unannounced debut to AEW on the company’s inaugural pay per view “Double or Nothing” and attacked Kenny omega, Chris Jericho and the referee.
He then officially announced his multi year contract with the company. Moxley defeated Kenny Omega and clearly showed his intentions to win the AEW World Championship. But Jericho tried to pull Moxley back to his side and Moxley asked for a bribe to join the group but neglected his deal. He simultaneously appeared at NJPW and won the IWGP United States Championship. Moxley then had a match with Jericho and won the AEW World Championship. He became the first person to hold the AEW and NJPW championship simultaneously.
He held the championship for 277 days and lost the AEW World Championship to kenny omega, marking his first loss in AEW. He then joined hands with Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingstan under the guidance of William Regal to form an alliance named “Blackpool Combat Club”. He is now showing up across multiple independent promotions and has currently turned heel for the first time in AEW.
