Del Rio injured and considering professional kickboxing fight
Former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, who is now working as Alberto El Patron on the independents, recently injured one of his quad muscles and may need to take time off. The injury took place last Wednesday in Mexico.
In order to explain his lack of mobility at Friday’s Northeast Wrestling event in Waterbury, CT, they did a storyline where the Young Bucks attacked his leg. His original opponent Matt Hardy then proposed a tag team match with himself and El Patron against the attackers, which they ultimately won.
Before the injury Patron was considering an offer from the Glory Kickboxing promotion. He previously did several MMA fights before joining WWE and has said that he’s open to professional fighting now that he’s a free agent.
At the Northeast Wrestling meet and greet, he told fans that Glory would have to offer him more money to get him to sign.
