Vince McMahon's "last wish" could have been added to his new WWE contract, says veteran (Exclusive)
Vince McMahon signed a two-year employment contract with WWE as Endeavour purchased the company. While speaking on Legion of RAW, Vince Russo felt McMahon might have added a clause in his deal to ensure specific names don't run WWE in his absence.
Vince McMahon was forced into retirement last year due to sexual misconduct allegations. The 77-year-old made a return in January 2023 and, as time passed, gradually gained more power, culminating in WWE merging with UFC.
Ari Emanuel's Endeavor struck a deal with Vince McMahon's WWE to form a conglomerated organization worth $21 billion. Emanuel and VKM have been friends for over 20 years, which explains why the veteran wrestling booker was allowed to stay on despite all the controversies surrounding his name.
It has been claimed that some top executives in WWE, including Nick Khan, Triple H, and Stephanie McMahon, allegedly vetoed Vince's return.
Vince Russo brought up the speculation on this week's Legion of RAW. He said that Vince McMahon's "last wish" would be for none of the three aforementioned names to control WWE if he takes a step back again in the future:
"He and Ari have been friends; Ari said they've been friends for like 25 years. If Ari had written it in the contract, the only way Vince is not in power is if he died, you know, etc., etc; trust me, bro, Vince gave him direct orders; under no means do those two ever, ever run this company. Trust me, bro, if he had that written in his contract, I guarantee you Ary knows the whole story; Ari knows what went down. Call it Vince's last wish, whatever you want to say; Vince gave him direction if that were to happen." [32:00 - 33:30]
Vince Russo gives an example of Vince McMahon's calculative approach
If history is any indication, then it's proven that Vince McMahon is a ruthless shark in the pro wrestling business. The former creative head has not hesitated in ousting people irrespective of their stature, and Vince Russo recalled how McMahon once dealt with a problematic Shawn Michaels.
Russo had advised Mr. McMahon to fire HBK, and while the boss agreed that it was necessary, he wanted to do it "on his time." The former WWE writer said that Vince doesn't forget about the people who've wronged him and eventually gets back at them somehow:
"If I am Ary and I saw what the three of them did, you don't think I'm thinking about, 'Well, what are they going to do to me?' Just like Vince McMahon told me, 'Vince, you've got to get rid of Shawn.' His exact words to me were, 'Yes, Vince, you're right. On my time.' That's exactly what he did. I'm telling you, Vince is very, very calculative." [33:31 - 35:00]
Vince Russo even foresaw a massive name leaving WWE by 2024, and you can read more on that story right here.
