Did Drew McIntyre get concussed during Hell in a Cell Match vs. CM Punk at WWE Bad Blood? Details explored
Drew McIntyre and CM Punk went to war at WWE Bad Blood. Leaving everything inside the demonic structure that is the Hell in a Cell, both men left the ring battered and bruised. However, there is no denying that The Scottish Warrior came out worse. So much so that many are wondering if he wrestled the match with a concussion.
The answer to that question is "no!" Although Drew McIntyre came out of The Devil's Playground needing 16 stitches, he wrestled the match without any issues. In fact, according to a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the former World Heavyweight Champion took control once he was busted open and informed officials that he would end the match if he felt ''woozy'' at any point in time.
"McIntyre basically took control and said that if he felt woozy, he would give them the word, and they would go right to the finish. While he took a hard shot, he showed no signs of a concussion; they proceeded as planned with no issues, and he was very aware of what was going on and in control at all times," Dave Meltzer wrote.
It certainly was an incredible match and rightfully received a five-star rating from Meltzer himself. But now, the feud is done and dusted, and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for both men. While CM Punk did make his presence felt on the RAW following Bad Blood, Drew McIntyre was nowhere to be seen.
This raises many questions. What is next for The Scottish Warrior? How is he feeling after the hellish match? Is he done with The Voice of The Voiceless? Only time will tell!
There was panic backstage once Drew McIntyre was busted open
One of the many reasons why the Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood received five stars was because of just how brutal it was. As mentioned earlier, both men put some blood and sweat into that match, quite literally. After all, they were both busted open and bleeding halfway through the encounter.
However, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan was only for Punk to be busted open. That's right, heading into the match, Drew McIntyre was supposed to get beaten up, but there was no plan for him to start bleeding. As a result, there was a huge panic backstage, as WWE officials considered sending doctors into the ring to check on The Scottish Warrior.
Fortunately, as mentioned earlier, McIntyre called an audible, and the match proceeded without any further issues. Props to the 39-year-old for proving to the WWE Universe just how much of a warrior he truly is.
