Did Drew McIntyre go off-script with an uncalled dig at CM Punk? Exploring the possibility
The day is almost upon us, the fated clash between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk is just about a week away. After months of feuding, this heated rivalry comes to a close on August 3, 2024, at SummerSlam. Both men have exchanged blows physically and verbally, inside and outside the ring. But, did the Scottish Warrior go off-script with an uncalled dig that might have left The Best in the World a little peeved?
Last night, Drew McIntyre made headlines with a now-deleted social media post, that many believe crossed the line. Posing for a photo, the 39-year-old stood side-by-side with CM Punk's real-life rival, Jack Perry. It's no secret that one of the reasons for Punk's AEW exit was Perry, and the scuffle the two had backstage. So, with that in mind, many are concerned that McIntyre has taken things a bit too far. Fortunately, that is not the case.
According to a report from WRKD Wrestling, there is zero concern about any backstage heat. True, Drew McIntyre has deleted the post, but this was all part of the plan. The report further added that both McIntyre and Punk are working intricately on this feud, so all references to his past with AEW and his backstage issues are fair game. In fact, McIntyre got the green light from Punk before posting the picture:
"While Drew McIntyre deleted his photo with Jack Perry, there is zero concern of any backstage heat. McIntyre and CM Punk are working closely to craft their feud and all references to past AEW or backstage issues have been given the green light by Punk ahead of time."
It is encouraging to see that all possibilities are being considered in this conflict, adding excitement and intrigue for the WWE Universe. The outcome of this feud at The Biggest Party of the Summer is eagerly anticipated.
Drew McIntyre is the bookies favorite heading into SummerSlam
It's safe to say that one of the must-see matches at SummerSlam is Drew McIntyre versus CM Punk. This long-awaited match has been in the making ever since The Scottish Psychopath injured Punk at Royal Rumble 2024. Now, with the match officially on the card, fans can see how things unfold.
But, while both McIntyre and Punk have their own set of fans in their corner, who is the favorite? Well, according to Bet Online's most recent odds, the Scotsman is expected to come out on top. As things stand, he has odds of -250, while Punk is at +170.
These odds will surely please McIntyre, but he has to be wary. This won't be the first time he's been the odds-on favorite, only to have Punk screw him over.
