Did Triple H drop the ball on a 34-year-old star who returned to WWE last month? Analyzing the situation
Triple H has done an incredible job of building talent ever since he took over the creative regime in WWE. During his tenure, The Game has managed to elevate many superstars in the company, but a few have been left out. The WWE CCO may have dropped the ball on a 34-year-old star who made a highly anticipated return on SmackDown last month.
The star in question is Giovanni Vinci. Initially, WWE produced multiple hype video packages to present him as a legit contender ahead of his return. In fact, fans counted down days with bated breath for the former Imperium member's return to SmackDown. However, Vinci suffering a loss in his very first match on the blue brand in under five seconds deflated all expectations.
He was yet again presented as a real deal the next week. However, the Triple H-led management decided to hand him another loss, against Apollo Crews, on SmackDown. This seemingly derailed all the momentum Giovanni Vinci had during his return. Additionally, he entered the Speed Title Tournament, where he suffered another major defeat at the hands of Sheamus.
After such a lackluster debut on SmackDown, it seems WWE had no plans for the 34-year-old as he has been absent from television for quite some time. These recent events indicate that Triple H may have dropped the ball on him. Although Vinci was not featured on live TV, he did participate in a dark match with Baron Corbin last week on SmackDown, where he suffered yet another loss.
Therefore, it is safe to say that The Game has fumbled with the former Imperium member on SmackDown. Given that Triple H buried him on his SmackDown debut, it looks like the WWE CCO never had any major plans for Giovanni Vinci. His abysmal bookings seem to be a clear indication of that.
When can Triple H bring Giovanni Vinci back on television?
Giovanni Vinci has been away from WWE television for a significant amount of time. Although he was portrayed as an important figure on SmackDown, his return went downhill unexpectedly. However, there are chances Triple H might bring the 34-year-old back on SmackDown for a fresh feud.
There's a good possibility that The King of Kings may bring back Vinci on SmackDown after Crown Jewel to give him a new direction. In fact, it is possible that the WWE CCO could repackage the former Imperium member and inject him into a meaningful storyline, unlike the embarrassing presentation last time.
Although the Triple H-led management does not seem to have any major plans for Giovanni Vinci, the company could push him as a vicious heel on the blue brand to experiment with his character. This would allow the former NXT Tag Team Champion an opportunity to unravel a new layer to his persona.
It will be interesting to see when Giovanni Vinci returns to WWE television. Will it happen after Crown Jewel or will the WWE Universe have to wait a little longer? It remains to be seen.
