Dominik Mysterio to ditch Liv Morgan after former AEW star returns to WWE after 3 years? Potential twist explored

WWE Superstar Dominik Mysterio has a history of betraying people close to him, and he might ditch reigning Women's World Champion Liv Morgan in the coming weeks. The 27-year-old allied with Morgan at the Summerslam Premium Live Event in August 2024 when he turned on his Rhea Ripley.

After Dominik's betrayal, Morgan replaced The Eradicator in The Judgment Day. And now there is a chance that Dirty Dom might leave Morgan, too, for a former WWE Superstar, who could soon return to the company. The star in question is CJ Perry (FKA Lana).

CJ Perry was a part of the Stamford-based promotion from 2013 to 2021. She was released in June 2021. Two years later, in September 2023, she made her debut in Tony Khan's All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, the erstwhile Lana left the Jacksonville-based promotion within a year. She last appeared at AEW Worlds End 2023. In July 2024, Perry revealed she was no longer a part of Tony Khan's company.

Since then, the rumors of The Ravishing Russian coming back to WWE have gained momentum. And there is a strong possibility that Perry could make her return against her former rival, Liv Morgan, as the two share a bitter history.

Notably, The Miracle Kid gatecrashed Perry's kayfabe wedding with former WWE Superstar Bobby Lashley on the December 30, 2019, edition of RAW. While the marriage proceedings were going in the ring, Morgan emerged from backstage and revealed that the erstwhile Lana was the love of her life and that the wedding needed to stop. The Judgment Day member sobbed as she accused The Ravishing Russian of betraying her.

Perry later slapped Morgan, and the two got into a brawl. Later, the 39-year-old's ex-husband, Miro (FKA Rusev), emerged and attacked Lashley.

Morgan then aligned with Miro, cementing her face turn. The two feuded with Perry and Lashley. On the January 27, 2020, edition of RAW, Liv defeated Perry in a singles match. The 30-year-old again defeated the former AEW star on February 3, thus ending their storyline.

So, assuming CJ Perry decided to return to WWE, the best scenario would be to book her against Liv Morgan. Perry could return to exact revenge on The Judgment Day member for spoiling her wedding in 2019 by stealing Dominik from the RAW Superstar.

The potential angle could set up The Miracle Kid's babyface turn. That said, this is just a speculation at this point.

Why didn't WWE continue the CJ Perry-Liv Morgan romantic storyline?

The potential romantic angle between CJ Perry and Liv Morgan that was planted on the December 30, 2019, edition of RAW was never followed up by the Stamford-based promotion.

Later, Dave Meltzer informed on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE never had any plans for the said angle.

"If you remember, Liv Morgan and Lana did one week of that, and it was like dropped cold. From what I was told, it was Paul [Triple H] looking for a spot in the wedding thing to pop people, but there was no plan to follow up on it. It was just a way to get Liv Morgan up and running," Meltzer said. [H/T: Cultaholic Wrestling]

While there might not have been long-term plans for a storyline between Perry and Morgan in 2019/20, the Triple H-led creative team can book the two in a high-pitched storyline, with Dirty Dom potentially betraying Morgan. However, this is just a conjecture at this point. It will be interesting to see if CJ Perry makes her return to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.
