Dominik Mysterio to be punished for breaking major WWE rule on SmackDown? Exploring potential scenario
Dominik Mysterio appeared solo this week on WWE SmackDown in order to confront Triple H about the Tag Team Championship match that had been sanctioned.
Mysterio is a member of The Judgment Day, but following their loss at Fastlane this past weekend, they no longer have the authority to appear across all three WWE brands. Mysterio can appear on NXT since he is the North American Champion, but he can't appear on SmackDown. Triple H has even appointed different General Managers to make the two shows appear separate.
Nick Aldis will be in charge of SmackDown moving forward whilst Adam Pearce retains control of RAW, and it appears that the company is pushing back to the original brand split format.
Mysterio was handed a Stunner from Kevin Owens, who is now an official SmackDown member. But there could be more punishment coming for him on RAW if the company reinstates the rule that says a star of one brand is not allowed to appear on the other two brands.
The Women's Tag Team Champions and the Undisputed Tag Team Champions can be the only exception given the rules of their titles. It would also allow The Judgment Day and The Bloodline to control their own brand and set up Survivor Series, which has traditionally been all about brand dominance.
Dominik Mysterio wouldn't be the first star to be punished for appearing across WWE brands
Dominik Mysterio's punishment would perhaps be to defend his championship at the upcoming Crown Jewel event. Last year, when Solo SIkoa appeared on NXT and won the North American Championship despite being a member of the main roster, he was forced to relinquish the title because he wasn't sanctioned to be in the match.
Luckily, Mysterio didn't compete or win a title while on SmackDown, but WWE needs to make an example of him to prevent any other stars from making the move.
