Dominik Mysterio's godfather to make WWE return as a heel and help him dethrone Gunther? Potential swerve explored

Dominik Mysterio might get a helping hand from a renowned wrestling personality if he qualifies to take on Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The legend in question is WCW veteran Konnan.

The 60-year-old legend inducted Dominik's father and his long-time friend, Rey Mysterio, into the Hall of Fame in 2023. Konnan also wrestled for WWE in 1992 but left after his alleged fallout with Vince McMahon. For those unaware, the former nWo member is 'Dirty' Dom's real-life godfather.

With things changing in the Stamford-based promotion under Triple H's leadership, Konnan can certainly make a return as a heel and help his godson Dominik against Gunther.

The chances of Konnan returning as a heel and aiding 'Dirty' Dom are high because he recently praised the latter's character work. He lauded the way The Judgment Day member carried himself as a villain in WWE.

While speaking on the Busted Open podcast recently, Konnan praised 'Dirty' Dom, saying that the 27-year-old superstar effectively knew how to work as a heel. He said Dominik even spoke to him about it.

"Dom even told me this, which is something I've always said, and he said it to me. He goes 'Bro, if you do something and it's different, people will buy your merch at anytime.' And I go, 'Dude, I can't believe you already caught that with only three or four years in the business," Konnan said. [H/T: WrestlingInc.]

Dominik defeated Damian Priest on this past week's RAW, seemingly earning a World Heavyweight Title shot in the process. However, the victory came after intervention from his Judgment Day teammates, JD McDonagh, Carlito, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez. Hence, he will have to prove his credibility as a challenger again.

During WWE Crown Jewel, it was announced that Dominik Mysterio would compete in a Fatal Four-Way match with Damian Priest, Sheamus, and Seth Rollins on the November 4 episode of Monday Night RAW.

Dominik could win the bout if his Judgment Day stablemates interfere in the contest. WCW veteran Konnan could guide him to a victory over Gunther if they combine forces before a potential championship match.

Konnan said he would be interested in a WWE return under one condition

Konnan recently spoke about possibly making his WWE return. The legend said he would be interested in a comeback if the Lucha Brothers jumped ship from AEW to WWE and were put in the LWO faction.

There have been rumors of the former AEW World Tag Team Champions joining the Stamford-based promotion. However, it hasn't materialized yet since their AEW contracts have seemingly not expired.

On the Keepin' It 100 podcast, Konnan said Triple H could put Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo in LWO since the company hadn't been using the faction well.

Besides Konnan, Booker T has expressed his willingness to see the Lucha Brothers in the company. On a recent episode on the Hall of Fame podcast, the former WCW Champion praised the duo's skillset and said he would "love" to see them in the global juggernaut.

While it's unclear if and when the popular tag team will join the company, Konnan's potential return is certainly linked to it.
