Dream opponents for Edge if he is cleared for an in-ring return
The Rated R Superstar was recently cleared for minimal physical contact by the WWE medical staff and he stated on the E&C podcast after SummerSlam that he feels he could wrestle again. During this year's edition of WWE SummerSlam, Elias was performing his concert only to be interrupted by a WWE Legend. Edge made his return and delivered his first Spear in more than 7 years. When Edge's music hit the WWE Universe went crazy and cheered all the way. Edge went on to hit Elias with his legendary finishing move. The Hall of Famer received a huge reaction from his hometown crowd.
There was a time when we all thought that we might never see Edge perform his moves in the ring again. Edge himself stated that one more Spear could paralyze him.
Since that moment at SummerSlam, the WWE Universe and the Wrestling pundits have started to speculate the in-ring future of Edge. Even if it's a small match, we'd still love to see Edge wrestle again. So, here are three possible opponents for Edge if he returns -
#3. Seth Rollins
Edge never lost his World Heavyweight Championship, right? Well, he could face Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship. These two stars have had a little bit of history with each other in the past.
Five years ago, Seth Rollins was the hottest heel on the WWE roster after turning on The Shield. With Edge prone, Seth forced John Cena to re-instate The Authority. He threatened to paralyze Edge by hitting the Stomp on the neck of the Rated R Superstar if Cena refused. Ultimately, John Cena gave in to the demand of The Architect.
As far as this match is concerned, the WWE Universe won't care who wins it. Edge winning would be pretty obvious but Seth getting an upper hand would boost his career in the long run. It is also a fact that Seth is one of the best wrestlers in the world today, and the match will be good, at the very least.
