WWE/UFC News: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson praises UFC superstar Conor McGregor
What’s the story?
While promoting his new movie Rampage, WWE veteran Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was asked about his thoughts on UFC superstar Conor McGregor when he recently spoke with KISS FM.
The former WWE Champion responded by stating that the Irishman has not only found an immense amount of success in the Octagon but could also do well in Hollywood as well.
In case you didn’t know…
McGregor, who is also a former UFC Featherweight Champion and the first ever man to hold two division titles, is yet to compete in the Octagon (and defend his Lightweight belt for that matter) ever since picking up his historic win over Alvarez almost two years ago.
However, despite being inactive inside the MMA Cage, McGregor has certainly been making headlines outside of it and as noted, the 29-year-old superstar also made his Boxing debut last year, when he squared-off against Floyd Mayweather in one of the most historic Pro Boxing matches of all time.
The heart of the matter
According to The Rock, he thinks that the Notorious One could definitely try his luck in the world of acting as well because the Irishman is apparently blessed with the presence of mind which could certainly help him build a career in Hollywood as well.
“He absolutely could [move to acting] because he has a presence. Conor not only has a presence about him [but] you know, you could go to acting school and a lot of people try, but the presence is something that you’re blessed with, and he’s blessed with that.”
In addition, Rock also stated that not only is McGregor an incredible showman and promoter, but the former UFC Featherweight Champion is also has a great eye in being a successful businessman and The Notorious One definitely has the champion’s mentality, and is certainly the very best in the world of Mixed Martial Arts as well.
“I like him a lot. And by the way he’s so polarizing, which makes him great, but at the end of the day when you strip all that shit away — he’s a promoter, he’s a businessman, he’s a champion, he’s the best on the planet at what he does [in] MMA — but when you strip it all away, it all comes down to the hard work you put in. Every day it all comes down to the hard work.”
What’s next?
Despite being inactive inside the Octagon, McGregor is currently slated to compete in two UFC fights later this year and only time will tell if The Notorious One will ever step back into the MMA Octagon ever again.
Author’s Take
McGregor is definitely a very clever businessman and this statement can certainly be proved thanks to his mega Boxing fight against Floyd Mayweather.
