Elimination Chamber 2013, The Rock vs CM Punk: What does the stipulation in the match mean?

This week’s RAW saw Heyman quite easily persuade Mr.McMahon to set up a completely stupid stipulation over the phone. It was indeed shocking to see McMahon accept Heyman’s demand with ease. The stipulation is that The Rock will drop the title if he gets disqualified or counts himself out. Now this has made the match an interesting one indeed. There are several possibilities of a turnaround in this match. Here are the possible scenarios that can be possible due to this particular scenario.

1. CM Punk regains his WWE Championship

CM Punk, after his epic 434 day title reign, lost the title to The Rock in Royal Rumble which many Punk fans disliked. Now Punk has a great opportunity to win back the WWE title and the stipulation favours him more than anyone else. Punk convinced Heyman to stay in his corner in Elimination Chamber and this means that the possibilities of an interference are quite large. With Lesnar, Maddox and the Shield in Heyman’s disposal (Shield being the less likely contenders) there is every possibility to expect one of these wrestlers to interfere in the match and attack not The Rock but Punk.

The presence of a stipulation will make sense only if Punk gets to win the title. With both Lesnar and Maddox on their side, Heyman and Punk will surely have the upper hand in this match.

2. Lesnar costs Punk the match

That Heyman has Lesnar and Maddox in his side is indeed an advantage, but the two weeks that Lesnar was present Heyman seemed to have no control over him. Lesnar silenced Heyman and told him to stand in the corner as he f5ed the boss and then thrashed Miz to the astonishment of Heyman. This can mean that Lesnar will attack Punk and cost him the match against The Rock, leading to a Punk vs Lesnar bout in Wrestlemania.

During the match between The Rock and Punk this Sunday, the referee could get hurt and Lesnar will make his entry along with Heyman. Punk will expect Lesnar to attack Rock but Lesnar will instead beat the hell out of Punk and The Rock will pin Punk for the victory.

3. The Rock retains the title after a Punk victory

A Punk victory, yet The Rock remains WWE Champion? Is that possible? Well, if Punk gets disqualified then we can expect this to happen. Brad Maddox or The Shield will enter the ring and instead of beating Punk will instead lay the triple power bomb on The Rock leading to Punk getting disqualified. A shocked Punk will then witness Vince McMahon walk out or appear on satellite television to tell Heyman and Punk that he hired The Shield to fight for him just the way Heyman paid them to support Punk previously.

I personally feel that Punk will win the WWE title to set up a triple threat match in Wrestlemania between The Rock, Punk and Cena. The Rock will initiate his rematch clause, Cena his Royal Rumble victory and Punk will walk into two consecutive Wrestlemanias as the WWE Champion.
