Ex-WWE star says Vince McMahon handpicked her for Total Divas
Vince McMahon oversaw the progress of several WWE shows during his 40 years as the company's creative figurehead. In a recent interview, Ariane Andrew recalled how the WWE Executive Chairman was responsible for her appearing on the Total Divas reality show.
In 2013, Total Divas premiered on the E! network. The series followed the lives of seven WWE women inside and outside of the squared circle. Andrew, known in WWE as Cameron, appeared in the first season alongside Brie Bella, Eva Marie, JoJo Offerman, Natalya, Naomi, and Nikki Bella.
Speaking to Muscle Man Malcolm, Andrew addressed the misconduct allegations that Vince McMahon faced in 2022. The former WWE star also explained why she is thankful for her former boss:
"I know there's been lots of things that people don't agree with," Andrew said. "At the end of the day, we're all human, we all make mistakes, but I'm very grateful. Because of him, I was hand-chosen from him for Total Divas. So, you know, there's definitely some great moments. I commend him to see what he has made happen." [15:47 – 16:09]
Andrew worked for WWE between 2011 and 2016. She recently launched her own independent wrestling promotion, Pound Town Wrestling (PTW).
Ariane Andrew reflects on her segment with Vince McMahon
On June 11, 2012, Vince McMahon's Mr. McMahon character danced with Ariane Andrew and Trinity Fatu, fka Naomi, backstage on RAW.
While some wrestlers would have felt nervous appearing on live television with McMahon, Andrew had no concerns before the segment:
"I guess for me I've never been intimidated by someone who has power. It's just another person. I mean, obviously it's Vince. I can't mess up this segment live, but it was just more of us just having fun before because it's like, 'Okay, the countdown is about to happen.' It was a fun segment. It's not like it was something serious. How do you really go wrong with that?" [14:38 – 15:03]
In the same interview, Andrew addressed whether she would like to return as a surprise Royal Rumble entrant.
