From the WWE Rumour Mill: Fake Royal Rumble poster making the rounds
What’s the story?
A poster for the Women's Royal Rumble match featuring Ronda Rousey appeared on Becky Lynch's Instagram story earlier, but it has now been confirmed as fake.
In case you didn’t know
Last night, Stephanie McMahon interrupted a brawl between the whole Raw Women's Division to announce the first ever women's Royal Rumble Match. It has since been confirmed that the match will feature both Raw and SmackDown Superstars.
Logic dictates all women from both brands will be featured due to simple mathematics, but we do not yet know how many wrestlers in total will be used and only Naomi has announced herself as an entrant in the match so far.
The heart of the matter...
Ever since the match was announced, rumours of Ronda Rousey's involvement have been floating around. She has already appeared on WWE TV on more than one occasion, once at WrestleMania 31 and the other in a tease for the 4 Horsewomen of WWE against the 4 Horsewomen of UFC.
When any poster surfaces online, it rapidly spreads. This one was no different, but it has quickly been confirmed as false. It is probably accurate in that it features all of the main females on the main roster, but we will probably need to wait a bit longer and find out who declares themselves as a participant over the next few weeks of WWE television.
What’s next?
The Royal Rumble is just over a month away, so we will surely start getting confirmed names of the entrants soon and it probably won't be too long until an official poster surfaces.
Author’s take
We know WWE are quick off the mark, but something about this poster just didn't look right to begin with. But Becky Lynch posting it made everyone think twice. It would have been an odd way of announcing Ronda Rousey, that's for sure.
If, or when, Rousey does sign with WWE, I think we can expect a massive press conference or a surprise appearance to get a huge pop and probably not in the back of a poster.
