Fan-favorite faction to split after ten years? - 3 WWE teams and alliances that can break up on RAW and SmackDown after The Judgment Day
WWE delivered an action-packed show at SummerSlam. Two massive betrayals at the recently concluded show confirmed a massive break-up within The Judgment Day, setting up the heel faction's implosion on RAW this week. However, the popular group from the red brand might not be the only ones splitting up in the aftermath of SummerSlam.
Here, we look at three WWE teams and alliances that could break up on RAW and SmackDown in the coming weeks. So, without further ado, let's begin.
#1. The New Day to witness a shocking betrayal on WWE RAW
The New Day, which debuted ten years ago, is widely regarded as one of the greatest WWE factions of all time. However, Big E is unlikely to return to in-ring action anytime soon. In his absence, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have barely been involved in significant feuds. The last few weeks have seen Karrion Kross and The Final Testament relentlessly trying to get Woods to turn against Kingston. The former NXT Champion has left no stone unturned in convincing Xavier Woods that Kofi Kingston can't stand him taking the spotlight.
Although the former WWE King of the Ring has been dismissive of Kross, the creative team may still have a shocking betrayal planned for the show. We may see Woods betray Kingston out of nowhere and set up a massive feud between the two stars on Monday Night RAW. The New Day potentially breaking up sounds unthinkable, but Triple H may have planned a jaw-dropping split between Kingston and Woods in the coming weeks.
#2. A-Town Down Under finally split up on SmackDown
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller have shown signs of an impending split for weeks. Waller has openly blamed Theory for losing their tag team gold and has often pushed his partner into harm's way. Johnny Gargano repeatedly pointed out Waller's selfishness during the title feud between DIY and A-Town Down Under on SmackDown.
The same thing happened at SummerSlam when Theory and Waller were involved in a segment with the Awesome Truth. We may finally see Waller betray Theory and set up his much-awaited face turn on WWE SmackDown after SummerSlam. It will be interesting to see if Austin Theory will eventually find his way back to Johnny Gargano and the rest of The Way, owing to their bond dating back to their time on NXT.
#3. Tiffany Stratton secretly plots against Nia Jax
Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton have formed a strong alliance on SmackDown. Jax challenged Bayley for the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam and won the title following a slight distraction from Stratton. The latter used her Money in the Bank contract to threaten Bayley and throw her off the game.
Now that Jax has the women's title and Stratton is Ms. Money in the Bank, the duo is bound to have a conflict of interest. The creative team could start teasing tension between the two friends as early as SmackDown after SummerSlam this week. Jax and Stratton are an unexpected but widely welcomed duo on the blue brand, and it will be interesting to see how their storyline unfolds.
