Fantasy Booking: Shawn Michaels vs AJ Styles at WrestleMania 35

Fantasy booking is fun.

I can sit at home and move pieces around to suit my agenda without worrying about the repercussions. A match that I have wanted to see for the longest time was Shawn Michaels versus AJ Styles. Shawn Michaels is my favourite wrestler, and I consider him to be the greatest of all time. Despite missing his entire TNA and NJPW runs, AJ Styles fast became my current favourite wrestler.

Until recently, this match remained a pipe dream. Shawn Michaels was happily retired and planned on staying that way. There was a big push to get HBK to come out of retirement in 2017 to face Styles for the WWE Championship. It never materialized. But at WWE Crown Jewel, the unthinkable happened. Shawn Michaels came out of retirement to team up with Triple H to take on Kane and The Undertaker.

Michaels has since said that match was a one-off and that he is still retired. But what if HBK came back for one more run that culminated in him facing AJ Styles at WrestleMania 35? How would that run look? Let's find out.

AJ Styles Loses To Daniel Bryan

AJ Styles is set to take on Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at the 2019 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

It is sure to be an excellent match. AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan are not only two of the greatest wrestlers in the world today, but they are also two of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Whoever wins or loses the match, the audience will be the real winners.

However, there must be a winner, and there must be a loser.

AJ Styles must lose this match.

If I were booking, I would have AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan open the card. The action and emotional investment from the crowd will set the tone for the rest of the night.

After 20 minutes of action, I would have Daniel Bryan cheat to win the match. After the match, I would have a visibly frustrated AJ Styles stay in the ring, before walking slowly to the back.
