First-ever faceoff, unexpected alliance & more - 4 blockbuster interactions Roman Reigns could have on WWE SmackDown

Just days after making an earth-shattering return at Summerslam 2024, Roman Reigns will appear on WWE SmackDown. Fans are incredibly excited to hear from The Original Tribal Chief, hoping to find out where he has been since WrestleMania, why he returned, and what's next for him.

The Head of the Table won't only be at the Oklahoma show for the audience, with multiple superstars set to feel his presence. Chief among them could be the two men who were in the ring when he made his much-anticipated comeback. However, the six-time world champion may have some surprise face-offs both in the ring and backstage.

Here are four of the biggest blockbuster interactions Roman Reigns could have on his first WWE SmackDown appearance since returning to WWE.

#4. Roman Reigns could have an epic first-time confrontation with Jacob Fatu on WWE SmackDown

Jacob Fatu debuted on WWE SmackDown less than two months ago, but he is already arguably the most feared man on the brand. The Samoan Werewolf has been unstoppable on Friday nights, taking out the likes of Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, and DIY almost singlehandedly. Such a force has Solo Sikoa's enforcer been that he became a top champion in just his third WWE match.

Ever since Fatu arrived, fans have been gleefully anticipating his eventual interaction with Roman Reigns. The duo did not cross paths during Reigns' Summerslam return, allowing The Original Tribal Chief to focus on Sikoa. One gets the feeling they won't be separated much longer, with the 32-year-old sure to come to his Tribal Chief's defense against the former Shield powerhouse.

Could their first-ever faceoff come as soon as the first post-Summerslam episode of the blue brand? It could be epic!

#3. Roman Reigns could be confronted by Jey Uso and/or Sami Zayn as a result of a cross-brand trade

One of the most subtle yet intriguing developments to come out of RAW after Summerslam was the cross-brand agreement between Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis. This deal saw Randy Orton and A-Town Down Under appear on the red brand. The Viper challenged Gunther for the World Heavyweight Title at Bash in Berlin, while Austin Theory and Grayson Waller defeated Awesome Truth.

This left fans wondering which stars from the flagship show might go the other way on Friday. Topping the list of speculated stars were Sami Zayn and Jey Uso, whose potential crossover would potentially bring them face-to-face with the new Bloodline or, more importantly, Roman Reigns.

It would be highly intriguing to see Reigns try to earn Zayn and Uso's forgiveness, sowing the seeds for their eventual reunion.

#2. Roman Reigns is likely to come face-to-face with Solo Sikoa in the ring on WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns' first target upon his Summerslam return was Solo Sikoa. The Enforcer-turned-Tribal Chief looked like he had seen a ghost when Reigns emerged, proceeding to be on the receiving end of a Superman Punch and Spear. He then lost to Cody Rhodes, destroying his plans to bring world title gold to the new Bloodline.

Sikoa has spent weeks taking shots at the Original Tribal Chief and will most likely have something to say about the latter's WWE SmackDown appearance. Could they have a promo battle in the ring? Could it end in a massive brawl? Could The Street Champ's crew ambush the six-time world champion, unleashing a vicious beatdown?

Could a potential beatdown lead to an unexpected ally making the save?

#1. Roman Reigns could interact with Cody Rhodes on WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns shares a long, storied history of rivalry with Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare ended The Original Tribal Chief's 1316-day reign as Undisputed WWE champion at WrestleMania XL, the last time the latter competed in the ring. Given that Rhodes was facing a member of his family, some fans expected Reigns to attack his great rival in addition to, or instead of, Sikoa.

The six-time world champion did not attack the current champion, nor did the duo show any visible sign of reconciliation. Should they cross paths on SmackDown? Will they show each other respect? Will they tease a third match down the road? Will they temporarily ally to fend off The new Bloodline? This interaction could go in any direction, and the fans will be anxious to see where.
