The first ever Indian wrestler on TNA makes his debut
Mahabali Shera, who became the very first Indian performer to be signed by TNA last year, made his debut for the organization during a pre – taped episode of Impact Wrestling a couple of nights ago.
The show, which is set to air on Destination America on the 23rd of this month, will see Shera, who is now renamed as Koya, taking on Tigre Uno and easily defeating him in a squash match. TNA has also sent out teasers of the possibility of Koya joining forces with The Revolution stable, being led by one half of the TNA World Tag Team champions, James Storm.
Much like The Great Khali in the WWE, TNA would look to cater Koya to the Indian market. With his enormous physique, TNA can only hope that he would be able to generate the same amount of buzz and interest among the Indian fans that Khali did when he won the World Heavyweight championship in the WWE.
Koya, who competed in the ‘Ring Ka King’ promotion started by TNA in India, was signed by the North American promotion last year, and only time will tell if TNA’s gamble to win over the Indian fans with Koya is a successful one.
Here’s a video of Koya making his first on-screen appearance at TNA.
