Five wrestlers we would like to see face Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Championship
At Wrestlemania 34, Seth Rollins defeated The Miz and Finn Balor in a triple threat match to win the Intercontinental Championship.
It was a stellar match, one of the greatest opening matches in 'Mania history. Since then, Rollins has gone on a great run as champion, defending the belt across the globe.
His standout performances every week on Raw has earned him the moniker, Monday Night Rollins.
Recently, Rollins has issued an open challenge for the title every week on Raw. This is exactly what John Cena did with the United States Championship in 2015 and that made the title mean something.
It gave us many memorable championship matches and helped to improve the stock of many competitors.
It created stars out of the likes of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, to name a few. Hopefully, Rollins can do the same to elevate his challengers and provide us with many memorable matches as well.
So far, he has been doing just that. Successful title defences against Balor, Mojo Rawley and Owens on the last three episodes of Raw, along with an incredible match at Backlash against The Miz are the highlights of his still-young title reign.
Rollins is WWE's most consistent performer at the moment and will continue to burn it down (no pun intended) every week on Raw as the Intercontinental champion.
Here are five superstars who would greatly benefit from an Intercontinental championship match with the Kingslayer.
#1 Sami Zayn
This week on Raw, Rollins beat Kevin Owens in a great match to retain his title. It is just fair if his best friend receives a shot sometime soon as well. Zayn's character work as a heel has been magnificent and that warrants a reward. The fact that he hasn't yet won a title on the WWE main roster is astonishing.
Zayn has answered an open challenge before, as Bret Hart introduced him in front of a thunderous hometown crowd in Montreal for a US Championship match with Cena.
He injured his shoulder during his entrance, but still put on a blinder of a match. He can do the same with Rollins.
We have seen these two face each other before, but not after Zayn turned heel and aligned with Owens.
Their matches were good but did not reach the high levels that both men are capable of reaching.
With a proper heel and face dynamic and a championship environment, this could be one of the best TV matches of the year. Zayn hasn't had a truly stellar match since turning heel, but this could be the one.
