Former champion once backed by Vince McMahon to leave WWE and join AEW? Exploring the possibility
Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had a penchant for strongly-built wrestlers. Right from Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and more, the former boss preferred jacked-up individuals to be the face of the company. In his final days as the head of the company, the 79-year-old backed the seven-foot-three-inch giant, Omos. With McMahon no longer at the helm, there is a possibility that the 30-year-old could part ways with the promotion and become All Elite.
The Nigerian Giant's main roster debut in 2020 was a bit lowkey; he was a ninja in Akira Tozawa's group and then became a bouncer for Shane McMahon's RAW Underground. His big break came as AJ Styles' bodyguard on the red brand. Omos later won the RAW Tag Team Championship with The Phenomenal One.
A year later, Omos was set to go the distance alone with MVP as his manager. It was rumored that Vince McMahon saw him as the Andre the Giant of this generation and wanted to push him to the moon.
Vince McMahon booked Omos in marquee PLE matches against Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins. He also locked horns with Brock Lesnar in a singles match at WrestleMania 39. However, Omos has not been featured on television since April 2024.
On the latest episode of AEW, we saw the debut of his former manager, MVP. With Omos not being used on WWE TV, The Nigerian Giant could well be on his way to the Jacksonville-based promotion. While this is a possibility, it may not happen anytime soon, as he is contracted to the company for a good amount of time.
