Former champion returns after 9 years, big name to quit? - 4 swerves that are possible following WWE RAW

WWE Monday Night RAW aired last night on the USA Network and it was another interesting show. The main focus was hyping up the impending Bash in Berlin Premium Live Event scheduled for later this month, but there was much to enjoy.

For example, Pete Dunne and Sheamus put on a great match, as did Ludwig Kaiser and Randy Orton in the main event. Additionally, the Women's Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match was a lot of fun.

Above all else, however, the promotion set up numerous big matches or continued major feuds. While some seem to have an obvious direction moving forward, Triple H and company officials have set themselves up to offer some intriguing swerves.

This article will take a look at a handful of potential swerves that are possible following RAW last night and recent shows in general. This includes an epic return taking an unexpected route, a masterful misdirect, and more.

Below are four swerves that are possible following WWE RAW.

#4. AJ Lee could return to the company after nine years and help Drew McIntyre

AJ Lee is a WWE legend. She came up through the indies, albeit briefly, before going to Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT. Over time, she rose to prominence and even held the Divas Championship.

Many fans are hoping that AJ Lee will finally return to WWE after nine years. This is especially true thanks to the CM Punk and Drew McIntyre feud. She is regularly brought up by both men, especially by McIntyre to taunt her husband.

During RAW, Drew said both AJ and Punk's dog are much safer and happier with him. While he said this to get under Punk's skin, it could lead to a shocking swerve where AJ does indeed return but turns on her husband to be with McIntyre. This would shock the world and make for incredible television.

#3. Sami Zayn could quit RAW or even WWE

Sami Zayn is a beloved WWE star. He started making a name for himself as El Generico before joining World Wrestling Entertainment and competing as Sami Zayn. He is a former Intercontinental Champion and NXT Champion.

In what could be bad news for WWE fans, Sami Zayn wasn't on Monday Night RAW. Not only did The Underdog from the Underground not appear, but Jey Uso implied that their dream of chasing the World Tag Team Titles is not happening at the moment. Instead, Jey is focusing on the Intercontinental Title Tournament.

With Sami absent and even seemingly losing interest in chasing after the World Tag Team Titles, there is a chance that he is fed up with RAW, the promotion, or even wrestling as a whole. In what may be a shocking move, Zayn could announce he is quitting.

#2. The Alpha Academy could shockingly join American Made

The Alpha Academy is a WWE faction currently consisting of Otis, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa. The leader of the group used to be Chad Gable, but the former Olympian lost his 'family' once he became a disrespectful heel.

Gable now leads American Made, a group also including Ivy Nile, Brutus Creed, and Julius Creed. The four stars are feuding with The Wyatt Sicks and Gable even has a match with Uncle Howdy on WWE Monday Night RAW next week. Many expect Howdy to wipe the floor with Chad, but a big swerve could be in the works.

There is a chance that Otis, Maxxine, and Akira have either secretly forgiven Chad or don't have issues with him at all. As a result, they will link up with American Made and the seven stars will proceed to beat down The Wyatt Sicks on RAW next week. This would make for a supergroup and a great swerve that fans don't see coming.

#1. The Miz and Braun Strowman could form a tag team and abandon R-Truth

R-Truth is one of the most interesting characters in WWE. He is somehow presented as a comical fool, but also at times, a manipulative genius. While fans love him, a lot of wrestlers are either annoyed by Truth or downright hate him.

He does have some allies, however. He and The Miz are former tag team champions known as Awesome Truth. Braun Strowman appears to be an ally of R-Truth as well, but both of those may change after an interesting RAW Talk segment from last night. You can check the segment out in the video above.

Despite some tension between them, both The Miz and Braun seemed annoyed at R-Truth's antics. Additionally, the two former world champions actually had a lot of chemistry, albeit while at each other's throats. The pair could end up swerving everybody, but especially R-Truth, by uniting together and leaving him alone.
