Former WWE Champion to quit the company following major controversy at SummerSlam? Exploring the possibility
WWE SummerSlam is almost around the corner, with the card for the show looking stacked. Aside from multiple title matches, The Biggest Party of the Summer will also feature the much-awaited singles clash between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk. With Seth Rollins announced as the special guest referee for the bout, the result could have a major consequence on the future of the two competitors.
McIntyre has been shown as impulsive during his feud with CM Punk. The Scottish Warrior's obsession with the Second City Saint cost him the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. Punk went on to cost Drew chances to reclaim the title on multiple occasions, even leading to the latter quitting the company in one instance.
The duo will finally get a chance to settle their score in a one-on-one match at SummerSlam. However, Seth Rollins was appointed as the special guest referee for the match, which means an unpredictable finish is likely on the cards for the highly-anticipated bout.
If Rollins mistakingly costs Drew McIntyre the match, the Scottish Warrior could once again leave WWE in kayfabe to give the storyline a little break and return in time for WrestleMania next year to finish the feud.
WWE veteran predicts Seth Rollins will scr*w CM Punk at SummerSlam
Seth Rollins has had animosity with CM Punk ever since the latter returned to the global juggernaut last year.
With the Visionary set to officiate Punk's blockbuster match against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, wrestling veteran, Vince Russo on his Writing with Russo podcast believed Rollins could end up costing The Best in the World owing to their differences.
"Bro, you can't keep beating McIntyre," Russo said. "You can't, bro. And the only way to get out of this is to have Seth scr*w CM Punk. That's the only way to get [out of it]. You cannot beat McIntyre again."
Seth Rollins laid out the rules for the match on RAW this past Monday. The former WWE Champion is likely to play a major role in the outcome of the bout. However, it is still unclear who will suffer from his actions.
