Former WWE champion to return and exact revenge on Gunther at SummerSlam? Exploring potential swerve
Gunther takes on Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship. There is a belief that The Ring General could be set to lift his first world title.
Damian Priest was able to hold on to his title by the skin of his teeth at Money in the Bank and it seems that he could be up against his toughest task at SummerSlam when he steps in the ring with Gunther.
Gunther has several enemies and one of them could be looking to make a point this weekend and cost him one of the biggest matches of his career. Giovanni Vinci was unceremoniously kicked out of Imperium back in April and was never able to exact revenge because he was drafted to SmackDown.
Vinci hasn't appeared on TV since he was drafted and hasn't wrestled a match at live events either. It seems that there could be some interference at SummerSlam that would allow Vinci to finally get some revenge on his former friend.
Gunther should win the WWE World Championship at Bash in Berlin next month
Gunther has been pushed as one of the biggest stars in WWE since his move to the main roster and, if there is interference in the match, he could have a shot at a rematch in Bash in Berlin next month.
Gunther is from Austria and would be treated as a hometown hero in Berlin, so winning the World Championship in Germany would be a magical moment for the former Intercontinental Champion.
Ludwig Kaiser is currently out of action after suffering broken ribs at the hands of Bron Breakker on RAW. If Vinci wants revenge then this would be the perfect time for him to strike and make it clear that he was never the weakest link in Imperium.
