Former WWE Champion's return to the company in doubt
It was reported recently that former WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio might be walking out from under the titantron once again. While the return wasn’t rumoured to be imminent, SummerSlam was targeted for the comeback, according to the grapevine.
However, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has reported that Mysterio won’t be coming back to the WWE after all – he has contractual obligations to his current outfit, Lucha Underground.
Rey Mysterio’s contract keeps him onboard for season two of Lucha Underground and the contract extends to mid-2017. Him leaving would amount to breach of contract. The three-time WWE Champion left notable Mexican Lucha Libre promotion AAA because apparently he wasn't paid what was owed to him. He also cites that the outfit was involved in “shady business practices”
Mysterio left the WWE in 2015 after 13 years due to his contract having expired. He is scheduled to face another former WWE Superstar in Kurt Angle at the UR Fight Promotion in Phoenix, Arizona on March 20th .
That card also has Ken Shamrock facing Dan Severn, Chael Sonnen vs Michael Bisping and boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. facing a fan, with $100,000 up for grabs if the fan wins.
