TNA News: Former WWE Stars Debut on Total Nonstop Deletion, Matt Hardy Takes A Dig At Triple H
Impact Wrestling aired a special broadcast this week, titled ‘Total Nonstop Deletion’, which came to us from the Dome of Deletion, or Hardy Compound. The featured bout on the show was a Tag Team Apocalypto, an open challenge to teams from ‘across space and time’, who wanted a shot at the TNA tag team championship belts, held by the Hardys. The show saw the TNA debut of former WWE superstar Hornswoggle, wrestling under the name Swoggle, as well as Road Warrior Animal. Other surprises in the show included the legendary tag team Rock n’ Roll Express, ODB and the Bravado Brothers.
Hornswoggle, released from WWE earlier this year with a host of other stars, was the surprise partner of Rockstar Spud, who had been shown awaiting a partner ‘bigger than’ Abyss. Hornswoggle would emerge in his brand new Swoggle avatar, wearing a ‘King of Small Style’ t-shirt, obviously a dig at NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. During the match ,he would turn on his tag team partner, Rockstar Spud. Another surprise debut during the Apocalypto came from Road Warrior Animal, teasing Ricky Morton from The Rock n’ Roll Express when he couldn’t get down from an elevated platform he was stuck in, with Jeff Hardy. The Road Warriors and the Rock n’ Roll Express hail from an era of scaffold matches, and one assumes that this was a nod to the same.
Shane Helms, formerly known as ‘The Hurricane’ in WWE, reprised his old character when he fell into the ‘Lake of Reincarnation’ during the Tag Team Apocalypto. Emerging in his old superhero gimmick, Helms assisted Matt Hardy defeat the Helms Dynasty after hitting them with shovels. Soon after, Helms and Broken Matt Hardy would bury the young tag team into the ground, while Hardy said this:
‘Even the man with 3 H’s would approve of how we buried those promising young talents’
This dig by Matt Hardy refers to Triple H's reputation of burying wrestlers backstage. One does not know if this was said in jest, or is a dig at his previous employers. A former WWE superstar, Matt Hardy had gotten himself released from the company after expressing disinterest in the product. A regular in the Impact Zone and independent circuit since then, his ‘Broken’ gimmick has really struck a chord with fans. Will this lead to a return to WWE? Only time will tell!
