Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion to turn up at Crown Jewel and take out Gunther? Analyzing the possibility
WWE is heading towards Crown Jewel 2024, set to take place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. One of the night’s biggest matches will see Gunther and Cody Rhodes battle for the inaugural Crown Jewel Championship.
However, it’s possible that Gunther might be taken out at Crown Jewel by former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. The Archer of Infamy held the title for 118 days before losing it to The Ring General at SummerSlam in Cleveland earlier this year. One of the primary reasons the Imperium leader was able to dethrone Priest was the betrayal by Finn Balor at the end of the match.
During a recent episode of Monday Night RAW, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley were involved in a backstage segment. Priest asked Ripley if she had issues with The Judgment Day, and so did he, despite beating Finn Balor at Bad Blood. Priest also told Rhea he would be around to help her if she needed it but made it clear that he’s now focused on becoming "El Campeon" once again. This indicates that Priest desires to reclaim the World Heavyweight title, feeling he was robbed of the championship.
Shortly after the segment, Priest also posted a GIF on X of him making his entrance with the World Heavyweight title, further suggesting his intentions.
All of this points to a high likelihood that the former Judgment Day member could appear at Crown Jewel 2024 and target Gunther. This could happen post-match or via a distraction, leading to Cody Rhodes securing the win.
It will be intriguing to see if Damian Priest shows up at the Saudi Arabia show to take down the Imperium leader.
When Damian Priest is expected to get his rematch against Gunther if he rejuvenates his rivalry at WWE Crown Jewel
If the scenario mentioned above comes true, or Damian confronts Gunther on the post-RAW episode after Crown Jewel, a rematch between the two could be announced for Survivor Series WarGames. The concept of Champion vs. Champion has seemingly faded. Last year, the main focus of the event was the WarGames match, and this year, a potential Bloodline Civil War is expected to take center stage.
As a result, WWE is unlikely to follow the Champions vs. Champions theme, opening the possibility of a Damian Priest vs. Gunther match at Survivor Series WarGames.
Alternatively, WWE could announce a rematch between them for an episode of RAW before Survivor Series if they have other plans for the Imperium leader.
