From the Impact Wrestling Rumor Mill: Impact Wrestling looking to work with ROH
What's the story?
Impact Wrestling may be going through a reshuffle at the moment, with the company releasing several of its talents, including Rockstar Spud. But reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter have revealed that Impact is looking to rebuild by working with Ring of Honor.
In case you didn't know...
Impact Wrestling has had a turbulent time as of late. It recently announced it was ending it's affiliation with Jeff Jarrett, distancing itself from the Global Force Wrestling brand. It's also releasing several of its talents, with others like James Storm reportedly not renewing their contracts
The heart of the matter
It seems Impact is trying to build bridges that were burnt in the past. as the company has already reached out to NJPW and apologised to Kazuchika Okada for the way he was booked when he was previously with the company.
Now, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t 411Mania) has reported that Impact is looking to develop a relationship with ROH, following the deal the two companies previously had to have The Hardys vs. The Young Bucks headline a pay-per-view.
Impact Wrestling is trying to open the doors to work with ROH. There were talks of the two sides working together many months ago, and a deal was worked out for the Hardys vs. Young Bucks to do a lengthy program and both companies would work together. But the Hardys left Impact and then Impact sent out a legal letter after the Hardys had left, this caused Dish Network to pull the PPV show with the Hardys vs. Young Bucks at the last minute.
What's next?
Impact has a tough few months ahead of it to ensure that it re-establishes itself as the de-facto second wrestling company next to WWE. However, their next pay-per-view Bound For Glory is set to be a success, with reports of the venue selling out.
Author's take
I'm rooting for Impact Wrestling. I hope the company gets back on its feet and secures a deal with ROH. Access to all of the ROH talent will certainly make things a lot easier.
