From the ROH Rumor Mill: Dixie Carter spotted backstage at recent ROH tapings?

Dixie Carter spotted at ROH

What's the story?

Someone in attendance for the Ring of Honor 'Music City Excellence' set of tapings on Saturday January 20th has claimed to have seen ROH C.O.O Joe Koff showing former TNA Chairwoman Dixie Carter around backstage.

In case you didn't know...

Dixie Carter was Chairwoman for TNA for fourteen years until Anthem Sports and Entertainment purchased an 85% majority stake in the business leading her to resign from her longstanding position of power within the world of wrestling. She remains attached to the company now known as Impact Wrestling as a minority shareholder.

The heart of the matter

Phil Lanides, who was in attendance at the Saturday 20th, January Ring of Honor tapings in Nashville, Tennessee tweeted about seeing the high profile wrestling pair together at the show, stating that Joe Koff was showing Dixie around and explaining to her how they do things there.

Dixie Carter is based in Nashville so it's more than likely this was just a high profile figure in the wrestling industry paying a visit to a wrestling promotion, with the boss of said wrestling promotion being a good host.

However, there is a chance that Dixie might have been there to represent Anthem as they look to restore their working relationships with ROH and NJPW going forward, in their attempt to rebuild the company.

What's next?

Some of you may be relieved to find out that Carter had no 'on-screen' presence at the tapings, there weren't any in-ring appearances or secret run-ins. It seems that she may have just been there as an important fan, but you never can tell with these things.

Author's take

A partnership between Anthem and ROH would be a great thing, even if the fact that it would have been brokered by Dixie Carter does make me shudder a little bit.
