From The Rumor Mill: Asuka's undefeated streak to continue long after WrestleMania 34?
What's the story?
Asuka has been undefeated in WWE ever since she first appeared in NXT back in 2015 and it seems that WrestleMania 34 may not see her undefeated come to an end.
In case you didn't know...
Asuka won the 2018 Royal Rumble and opted to face Charlotte for the SmackDown Women's Championship at this year's WrestleMania. Charlotte is seen as Asuka's toughest opponent to date and many of the WWE Universe thought that The Queen would be the one to end the lengthy streak.
Asuka has seen her way past many of the toughest women on NXT and Raw over the past few years, but Ronda Rousey's arrival in WWE has meant that there are now two dominant women on the brand and a showdown between them could be in the works.
The heart of the matter
According to a report by WrestlingNewsCo, the current plans are for Asuka to win the SmackDown Women's Championship from Charlotte at WrestleMania 34, which will then lead to "The Empress of Tomorrow" defending her Championship against Rousey next year.
This would mean that Asuka and Rousey will be made to look strong over the next few months and could be the women chosen to main event WrestleMania for the first time next April.
What's next?
Asuka is expected to remain on Raw until WrestleMania in just over two weeks time, but she will be on SmackDown as well to build up her upcoming match against Charlotte.
Author's take
Asuka is nearing three years as an undefeated superstar and it seems that someone like Ronda Rousey would be the perfect person to end a streak of this kind. If booked right this could be a showdown on the scale of Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns this year, so it will be interesting to see how WWE builds this up in the coming months.
