What's the story?

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and North American Champion Adam Cole, have had a number of issues over the past few weeks, but it appears that they could be set to finally have a showdown at the upcoming Takeover event.

In case you didn't know...

The main event for the upcoming UK Tournament has already been revealed as The Undisputed Era vs British Strong Style.

It is also worth mentioning that the tournament takes place on the 18th and 19th of June from the Royal Albert Hall in Kensington, United Kingdom, which means that Cole and Dunne could miss the event on June 16th.

It is unclear as of yet if Cole and Dunne will be present at Takeover: Chicago since there wasn't a match between the two rivals announced on the most recent batch of tapings ahead of the show.

The heart of the matter

The most recent episode of The Wrestling Observer noted that there could be a match between Pete Dunne and Adam Cole at Takeover: Chicago since there has already been a match announced for the Tag Team Champions.

Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong will be defending their titles against Oney Lorcan and Danny Birch at Takeover, but they will also be present as part of the main event of the UK Tournament two days later, which means that a match between Dunne and Cole isn't completely out of the question.

What's next?

Dunne, Lorcan, and Burch managed to defeat The Undisputed Era this past week on NXT, so it is thought that their feud will now continue heading into next month's Takeover event.

Author's take

It is set to be a busy month for Pete Dunne, but he's a popular star, so he deserves to be part of the Takeover event.

It was back in Chicago last year that he was able to first lift the Championship when he defeated Tyler Bate, so it would be great for him to return to The Windy City and continue his winning streak.
