From The Rumour Mill: Huge name could be set to induct The Dudley Boyz into The Hall of Fame
What's the story?
The Dudley Boyz were the second name announced for the 2018 Hall of Fame after Goldberg was unveiled as this year's headliner ahead of The Royal Rumble last weekend. Even though both Goldberg and The Dudleys have been announced as the part of the class, the person who is set to induct them still remains unknown.
In case you didn't know...
The Dudley Boyz made a name for themselves in Paul Heyman's ECW and are still a popular team with many of the hardcore extreme wrestling fans, which is why Bubba Ray was chosen to be part of The Royal Rumble back in 2015 when the event was in Philadelphia. The Dudley's are former eight-time Tag Team Champions in ECW and were seen as legends of the hardcore scene for a number of years.
They are also nine-time Tag Team Champions in WWE and recently had a stint as part of the company where they tried to become 10-time Champion before they finally walked away for the last time back in 2016. The Dudley's did appear as part of Raw 25th Anniversary a few weeks ago where they delivered The Dudley Death Drop to Heath Slater.
The heart of the matter
On his recent podcast, Sean Waltman better-known as X-Pac speculated that it could be former ECW owner Paul Heyman who could be the one doing the honours and welcoming the duo into the 2018 class.
The former WWE star speculated that it would either be Heyman or Spike Dudley who would be inducting the team into the Hall of Fame, but The Wrestling Observer has already reported that The Advocate for The Beast Incarnate is actually set to induct Goldberg instead. It could be an interesting one to watch, to see who Heyman ends up inducting on the night.
What's next?
WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place on April 6th, two days before WrestleMania 34, but the company should announce who will be inducting a number of this year's entrants in the coming weeks.
Author's take
The Dudley Boyz should be inducted by Paul Heyman, it would be perfect, but Spike Dudley returning would also be incredible after so many years. Either way, it seems that this year's Hall of Fame has the potential to be one of the best in recent years.
