From the WWE Rumor Mill: Two top Impact Wrestling stars set to leave soon, possibly WWE-bound
What's the story?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, both Bobby Lashley and EC3's Impact Wrestling contracts are set to expire very soon and neither is expected to re-sign with Impact. They could both possibly be WWE-bound.
In case you didn't know...
EC3 and Lashley have arguably been the two most important names for Impact Wrestling the past couple of years, if not more. Losing them would undoubtedly be a massive blow to Impact.
Lashley was the World Heavyweight Champion for quite a while between 2015 to 2017. He's also been heavily involved with MMA, as he trains with American Top Team in Florida.
The heart of the matter
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, one, if not both are expected to join WWE once their contract expires. In this case, EC3 seems to be nearly a lock to sign with WWE, unless he re-negotiates with Impact and decides to stay longer.
EC3 is definitely the type of star who you know is going to go through NXT first. Lashley, on the other hand, could jump straight to the main roster instead. For all you know, he might get that big push that was in-line for him before he left the first time ten years ago.
But one thing's for sure, EC3 has a much higher chance of signing than Lashley. Bobby Lashley might decide to focus on his MMA career instead, which he won't be able to do in WWE.
What's next?
We'll see in the coming weeks what the status of Lashley and EC3 is. If they're written out of storyline in the tapings, then we know for sure what that indicates.
Author's take
EC3 and Lashley would be great additions to the roster. Both were in WWE in the past and now they've improved leaps and bounds from where they left off. Their second chance in WWE will undoubtedly be a much more successful one.
