From the WWE Rumor Mill: 3 matches set to be added to Hell In A Cell card

Hell
Hell In A Cell is a SmackDown Live Exclusive PPV

What's the story?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are 3 matches that are expected to be added to the Hell In A Cell card very soon. This will feature a PPV debuting Bobby Roode as well.

In case you didn't know...

Hell In A Cell is set to take place in early October as a SmackDown Live exclusive PPV. The marquee match is Jinder Mahal vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship, although it's still not known whether the match will take place inside the steel structure or not.

The other marquee match-up set to take place is Kevin Owens vs Shane McMahon inside Hell In A Cell, though that's yet to be officially announced. Shane McMahon was dealt with a storyline suspension and Vince McMahon will be appearing on the coming episode of SmackDown Live to address the Shane-Kevin Owens situation. It is expected that he will announce a Hell In A Cell bout between the two.

The heart of the matter

According to The Observer, the following 3 matches are expected to be added to the Hell In A Cell card:

AJ Styles vs Baron Corbin - United States Championship

Bobby Roode vs Dolph Ziggler

Sami Zayn vs Aiden English

While the first two make sense, the third one does not. WWE has made Sami Zayn get pinned by Aiden English 3 times now, out of which the last one was clean as a whistle. The booking of Sami Zayn has left many fans bewildered at why WWE would make a talent of his calibre job to a lower mid-carder.

However, that does come as good news for Aiden English, who has seemingly been receiving a midcard push that he has long rumoured to receive once Simon Gotch was released by WWE.

Regardless, one can expect Zayn to finally pick up the win over English this time around. As for Bobby Roode, it seems as though his first feud is set to take place against Dolph Ziggler, who right now seems to be imitating gimmicks of other wrestlers. This might just be the final feud of Dolph in WWE. His contract expires at the end of October, and this time around, he is not expected to renew it this time around.

What's next?

SmackDown Live is building to Hell In A Cell, and while they don't have a PPV in September, the upcoming episode of SmackDown Live is stacked like a PPV card. Sin City SmackDown Live, as it's called will feature 3 title matches and the return of Vince McMahon to SmackDown Live after a long time.

Author's Take

The US title match seems fine, and so does the Roode-Ziggler match, but only if the match delivers. Ziggler has been the "welcoming feud" for Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura among others, and the debut matches and feuds completely flopped.

Hopefully, Roode isn't victim to the same problem. As for Sami Zayn and Aiden English, there is nothing else to say but hopefully, Sami picks up the win.
