From the WWE Rumor Mill: Actual reason why Charlotte Flair won the Smackdown Women's Title
What’s the story?
According to a rumour suggested by Cageside Seats, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair had played a major part in his daughter’s title win on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live.
In case you didn’t know…
On this week’s episode of Smackdown Live-- which was also the go home show for WWE’s next pay-per-view that is Survivor Series; Natalya Neidhart was scheduled to defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair.
Both Charlotte and Natalya had also previously wrestled each other during their NXT days, with the NXT Women’s Championship on the line and this Tuesday the two ladies once again went toe-to-toe with each other but this time with the SD Live Women’s Title on the line.
Charlotte and Nattie once again proved why they are among the two best performers in the WWE women’s division today, as both of them had a great match. However, the outcome on the night wasn’t on Natalya’s favour as Charlotte Flair defeated “The Queen of Hearts” and became the new Smackdown Women’s Champion, in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.
The heart of the matter
Charlotte Flair made history by winning the Smackdown Live Title on this Tuesday, as she became the first superstar to win the NXT Women’s Title, the Raw Women’s Title and also the Smackdown Women’s Title.
However, according to Cageside Seats; it seems like Charlotte’s father Ric Flair had a lot to do with his daughter’s win and played a huge part on the title change that took place in North Carolina, earlier today. It was also reported that Flair’s recent mainstream publicity was the actual reason why Charlotte Flair won the title from Natalya.
On the other hand, Charlotte dedicated her historic title win to her father and also talked about the medical and health issues Ric Flair has been having. However, much to everyone’s surprise in the building “The Nature Boy” made his return to WWE TV and got a thunderous ovation, as he celebrated with his daughter.
What’s next?
Charlotte Flair’s title win, now means that she will now compete against Alexa Bliss in a champion vs champion match, at Survivor Series.
On the other hand, Natalya’s current situation seems a bit unclear but chances are that the former champion will now take Charlotte’s spot in the Smackdown’s women’s Survivor Series Team, come November 19th in the Toyota Center.
Author’s Take
Ric Flair’s recently released 30 For 30 documentary has been really popular with the mainstream and in my opinion, it is one of the major reasons why his daughter, Charlotte Flair won the title from Natalya on Smackdown Live.
