From the WWE Rumor Mill: Asuka to switch brands in Superstar Shake-up

Wha
The Empress of the blue brand next?

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. has reported a possible spoiler for the two-day Superstar Shake-up scheduled for next week. The winner of the first ever Women's Royal Rumble, Asuka is reportedly set to move to the blue-brand next week.

In case you didn’t know…

Asuka enjoyed an unbelievable winning streak since ever she joined WWE's developmental brand NXT. The "Empress of Tomorrow" made the switch to the main roster last year in September when she debuted on Raw.

In January earlier this year, Asuka made history by becoming the first-ever winner of the Women's Royal Rumble match. She faced Charlotte for the SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania and shockingly lost the match, thus ending her historic streak.

The heart of the matter

The speculation about Asuka possibly moving over to SmackDown Live emerged from the fact that she was one of the Superstars advertised for the blue brand's June 10th Live Event in Tupelo, Mississippi.

It is unclear where exactly the advert for the event appeared because, as of this writing, WWE have only advertised Charlotte Flair, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura for the event. It is possible that WWE corrected the oversight after accidentally putting it out.

What's next?

After the legendary streak ended at WrestleMania, it is not clear what is next for Asuka. A move to the blue brand is definitely possible, in order to place her in fresh feuds.

Author's take

The streak had to end one day, and personally, I feel Charlotte Flair might have been the best choice to be the one to do it, seeing how she is arguably the best female Superstar in WWE right now.

A move over to SmackDown Live might be a good thing for Asuka, opening up possibilities of fresh new feuds with the likes of current Champion Carmella, the newly debuting Iconic Duo, and more.
