From the WWE Rumor Mill:  Backstage information on Triple H gaining more power in the WWE

Triple H's
Triple H's success in NXT has led to more duties in the WWE

What's the story?

Dave Meltzer recently discussed the increasing duties of Triple H within the WWE on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. Some new backstage information was provided to Meltzer recently as it appears the planning stages for Triple H to take over for Vince McMahon is underway.

In case you didn't know...

NXT and the Performance Center were the first major duties for Triple H in his executive career within the WWE. Triple H was hands-on with NXT from the beginning and helped shape it from a reality show in 2010 to its own brand by 2012.

Triple H was also the primary decision maker in the development and creation of the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida; which opened its doors in July of 2013. The Performance Center is where new wrestlers learn the business, current NXT wrestlers train, and injured WWE Superstars rehab to work off the ring rust.

The heart of the matter

Over the past month, Triple H has taken on more of the WWE's responsibilities including becoming the show-runner for 205 Live. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were also the people behind Ronda Rousey's signing with the WWE, and not Vince McMahon according to Meltzer.

There continues to be talks backstage within the WWE of Triple H taking over all of the main duties for Vince soon. Meltzer stated that Triple H is assembling a team of trusted advisors to take over control of NXT once this day comes.

At the time of this writing, there wasn't a specific timetable given for the shift in power; however, if the past month is any indication, it could be piece by piece starting with specific contract negotiations and 205 Live.

Meltzer also stated that Vince was the one behind Brock Lesnar's last contract with the WWE, but it is unknown if he spearheads the attempt to re-sign the current WWE Universal Champion, or if that is a task for Triple H.

What's next?

Next up for the WWE is the go-home edition of Monday Night Raw before the Elimination Chamber Pay Per View on Sunday. This week's Raw takes place from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona featuring a big seven-man gauntlet match involving all members of the men's Elimination Chamber match.

Author's take

News of Triple H taking over the important decision making for the main roster definitely has me excited for the future. I'm not the only one excited through, anyone that is a fan of NXT since either the shift to a brand in 2012 or the begin of the rise in 2014 with the dawn of the WWE Network know the amazing job he's done there and have no doubt that the future of the WWE is in good hands.
