From the WWE Rumor Mill: Big update on Stone Cold Steve Austin's WrestleMania 34 plans
What's the story?
As revealed on PWInsider Elite, Mike Johnson stated that Stone Cold Steve Austin will sadly not be appearing at WrestleMania 34 this year.
However, there are hints that force us to think otherwise too.
In case you didn't know...
We all know WWE's tradition of getting big-name legends back for one night only at the grand stage of WrestleMania as Austin himself has been a pivotal figure of some star-studded segments in recent years.
The Texas Rattlesnake's last return happened on the 25th Anniversary episode of Raw on January 22nd, 2018. WWE rolled back the years as they booked the former WWE Champion in a segment in which he laid out both Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon with Stunners.
With WrestleMania a few weeks away, it's only natural to have rumors of Austin's involvement with the mega show pop up.
The heart of the matter
While Austin is not scheduled to be at WrestleMania, the baddest SOB on earth does have his own Mania plans that will see him appear at WrestleCon.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider further addressed reports of a fallout between WWE and Austin and said that everything's perfectly alright between the two parties and that Austin will be headed back home after attending WrestleCon.
What's next?
Austin may not be required to boost the star-power of an already stacked show with Undertaker, John Cena, Triple H and Kurt Angle all set to be in action at the 34th edition of the show of shows.
However, who wouldn't want to see Austin in a segment or two in New Orleans. With the WWE Hall of Famer in and around the Superdome, WWE may be tempted to get him on board for an angle, however, unnecessary it may seem.
Author's take
Stone Cold's absence doesn't hurt the Mania card one bit that has somehow managed to shape up into a very solid offering from WWE.
While the Bionic Redneck may not fit into any of the current angles, his greatest rival The Rock certainly would, just saying.
