From the WWE Rumor Mill: Blood and piledriver banned at WrestleMania weekend
What's the story?
According to John Pollock of Post Wrestling, the Louisana Boxing & Wrestling commission confirmed that there will be neither blood not piledrivers taking place during WrestleMania weekend. This includes all other events taking place at WrestleMania weekend.
In case you didn't know...
When WWE comes to New Orleans for WrestleMania weekend, it will have a tremendous economic impact. Not only that, but it brings out a lot of other wrestling events for fans to attend as well.
The entire wrestling world's attention will be at New Orleans on the weekend of WrestleMania 34. The last time WrestleMania was in New Orleans was four years ago, when Daniel Bryan main evented, giving fans one of the happiest endings in WrestleMania history.
The heart of the matter
John Pollock detailed the ban in New Orleans for WrestleMania weekend:
What's interesting to note is that blood is banned, regardless of which event it's in. Why Louisiana has barred the piledriver is yet to be known. However, that would make Undertaker's rumoured appearance interesting. If Undertaker is to face John Cena, will it be a match without a tombstone? It's hard to imagine an Undertaker WrestleMania match without a tombstone.
What's next?
Although it's a big blow to all wrestling parties involved, it's something that they'll just have to deal with. However, the Undertaker situation definitely makes it all the more interesting.
This is all, of course, under the assumption that The Undertaker is wrestling. It's heavily rumoured as of now but we'll only know the truth of the rumours by Elimination Chamber.
Author's take
While banning blood is understandable, banning the piledriver is a move that doesn't make much sense. There are bound to be several wrestlers that weekend who use the piledriver, and it doesn't do any harm when executed right.
Banning a move like the piledriver seems to be outright pointless.
