From the WWE Rumor Mill: Bobby Fish injured at NXT Live event
What's the story?
Tonight's NXT show in Indianapolis was shaping up to be monumental for one reason - Johnny Gargano making his final NXT appearance - but, sadly, another star made the news.
Bobby Fish has reportedly suffered an injury to his leg, thought to be his knee, which resulted in the referee "throwing up the X" and medical staff helping Fish to the back.
In case you didn't know...
Bobby Fish may best be known for his lengthy run in Ring of Honor as part of the tag team reDRagon, where he held the ROH World Tag Team Championship three times and the ROH World Television Championship once. However, Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and himself have gotten off to a flyer in NXT, where Fish and O'Reilly currently hold the NXT Tag Team Championships and, along with Adam Cole, form The Undisputed Era.
The heart of the matter
There's no official word from WWE or Bobby Fish as of yet, but several fans in attendance at Indianapolis have taken to social media to report that The Undisputed Era's bout against Heavy Machinery tonight was briefly stopped by the referee "throwing up the X" to call for medical attention after Bobby Fish appeared to have suffered an injury.
While some people are reporting that the alleged injury is to Fish's ankle or foot, the majority are saying Fish looked to tweak his left knee, with no obvious spot causing the injury.
Fish's partner O'Reilly continued the match solo with the third member of The Undisputed Era, Adam Cole, doing a run-in, distracting Otis to enable O'Reilly to sneak a pinfall win.
The finish is said to have looked to have been very impromptu after Fish was helped to the back, seemingly ruling out any chance that it was worked as such.
What's next?
As of now, the injury is unconfirmed with the only reports coming from fans in attendance. We will bring you more on this as and when we get it.
Author's take
It's always sad to see any wrestler suffer an injury, but more so when they're on a hot streak and holding gold like Bobby Fish. We wish him all the best and hope the suspected injury isn't as serious as first thought.
