From the WWE Rumor Mill: Charlotte could win the SmackDown Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell
What's the story?
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer suggested that Charlotte could win the Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell after the Queen submitted to Natalya on the most recent episode of SmackDown Live.
In case you didn't know...
On the September 19, 2017, episode of SmackDown Live, Charlotte earned the right to challenge Natalya for the SmackDown Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell when she won a fatal four-way match which also featured Becky Lynch, Naomi and Tamina.
The heart of the matter
As a result of WWE's 50-50 booking, the Superstar standing tall on the go-home show usually does the job at the pay-per-view. There are also rumours suggesting that Charlotte may defend the SmackDown Live Women's Championship against Ronda Rousey down the road, so it makes sense for the Queen to win her first title on the blue brand.
What's next?
Charlotte will challenge Natalya for the SmackDown Live Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell in Detroit, Michigan, on October 05, 2017.
Author's take
While Natalya is a talented in-ring worker, her character is beyond stale and the time is ripe for a title change. Charlotte is a very talented performer who can anchor the women's division and give it the proverbial shot in the arm.
The former NXT Champion is also the best person on the roster to have a match with Ronda Rousey. It may sound like a ludicrous proposition due to the number of variables involved, but WWE should actively pursue any opportunity to work with the former UFC Bantamweight Champion because of her box office appeal.
