From the WWE Rumor Mill: Change to plans for No Mercy RAW Women's Championship match because of Asuka
What's the story?
According to a report from Cageside Seats, the WWE may not let Emma take the fall at the upcoming No Mercy PPV, as she's going to be former NXT Superstar Asuka's first main roster opponent.
In case you didn't know...
On September 24th, the WWE will hold their No Mercy PPV, wherein Emma will face Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, and Sasha Banks in a Fatal-4-Way Match for the RAW Women's Championship.
Initially slated to be a singles match between Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks, Emma and Nia Jax got added to this bout after they beat Alexa and Sasha in a tag team match on RAW.
Coincidentally, Emma along with Dana Brooke was Asuka's first rival in NXT, with their feud culminating in a losing effort for Emma at NXT TakeOver: London.
The heart of the matter
According to the report from Cageside Seats, the WWE may not let Emma take the losing pin at No Mercy, as she's going to be Asuka's first main roster opponent, and they want the fans to consider her as a viable threat.
What's next?
No new information has been released regarding Asuka's main roster call-up except that she's going to be a part of the RAW roster.
Author's take
It would be interesting to see Emma and Asuka relive their feud from NXT. Both women put on an amazing match at TakeOver: London and may do the same on the main roster.
We hope that this feud successfully kick starts Asuka's main roster run and doesn't devolve into a Bayley-esque scenario. With the Empress of Tommorrow coming on the heels of one of the greatest championship runs in WWE history, fans desperately hope that she doesn't lose her steam on the main roster.
