From the WWE Rumor Mill: Everybody apparently wants to sign Adam Cole
What’s the story?
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that every professional wrestling promotion in the world is apparently interested in signing Adam Cole.
In case you didn’t know...
Adam Cole, whose real name is Austin Jenkins, has performed for several notable pro-wrestling promotions including New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), Ring Of Honor (ROH), Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) and many more.
His latest contract with ROH ran out over the weekend, and the 27-year old is now being touted as one of the hottest free agents on the market today.
The heart of the matter
Meltzer noted that apparently “everybody wants Adam Cole right now”, asserting that several top promotions want to sign ‘The Panama City Playboy’.
He stated that Cole signing with WWE is not set in stone, however, he believes the former 3-time ROH World champion will eventually sign with the WWE. He added that NJPW is also reportedly interested in signing him.
What’s next?
Adam Cole will face Hiroshi Tanahashi at ROH’s upcoming War of the Worlds pay-per-view event on May 12th. Apparently, he may continue to work on a per date deal with ROH until he signs with another promotion on a full-time basis.
Author’s take
Adam Cole is one of the brightest stars outside the WWE and is without a doubt the hottest commodity on the open market in our sport right now.
I’d love to see the talented youngster in the WWE since he’s already performed with virtually every notable organisation in the industry including NJPW. Perhaps, a re-run of AJ Styles vs Adam Cole that took place at War of the Worlds in 2015, only this time, inside the WWE ring.
