From the WWE Rumor Mill: Former Women's Champion to be inducted in WWE Hall of Fame
What’s the story?
Per Squaredcirclesirens, former WWE Women’s Champion Ivory is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
This news was first brought to light by Brad Shepard on Twitter, back in December of last year.
In case you didn’t know…
Ivory, whose real name is Lisa Moretti, performed for the WWE during the Attitude Era as well as during the early stages of the Ruthless Aggression Era.
Ivory began competing in the WWE from 1999 and later transitioned to a part-time wrestling schedule for the promotion; parting ways with WWE in 2005.
The heart of the matter
Ivory has held the now-defunct, WWF Women’s Championship 3 times, and is widely regarded as one of the best female professional wrestling performers of her era.
Additionally, Ivory returned to the WWE for Wrestlemania Axxess prior to Wrestlemania 31, and also recently featured on an episode of WWE Network show ‘Table For 3’ alongside Alundra Blayze and Molly Holly.
Furthermore, backstage banter last night at the Royal Rumble PPV event revealed that Ivory is indeed going to be revealed as the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame’s 2018 Class. Fans can read the Tweet sent out by Brad Shepard last month, which initially revealed Ivory’s potential Hall of Fame induction—
What’s next?
Fans can expect Ivory to be confirmed as one of this year’s Hall of Fame inductees by the WWE over the next few days.
Besides, as is generally the case with most Hall of Fame inductees, Ivory could make a few appearances on WWE programming in the lead-up to Wrestlemania 34 which takes place this April.
Author’s take
Ivory is perhaps one of the most criminally underrated talents of all time.
The former RTC (Right To Censor) villainess not only possessed immaculate microphone skills but is also gifted with great ring psychology. It’s great to see her finally get the respect and recognition she deserves for years of her hard work and time devoted to the business.
