From the WWE Rumor Mill: Future plans for Carmella and the SmackDown Women's Championship possibly revealed

On an edition of the Wrestling Observer Live, WWE’s future plans for Carmella and the SmackDown Women’s Championship were discussed.
Apparently, Carmella is likely to drop the title to Asuka in the days to come. Besides, possible reasons behind the same were also discussed.
In case you didn’t know…
Carmella defeated Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship last month, after Flair was laid out by a vicious attack at the hands of The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce).
Carmella then successfully defended her title against Flair at Backlash earlier this month.
The heart of the matter
It was on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live that the blue brand’s General Manager Paige confirmed Asuka to be the next challenger for Carmella’s SmackDown Women’s title, with Carmella now set to defend her title against Asuka at WWE’s Money In The Bank PPV.
One ought to note that several fans and experts have been speculating as to whether WWE could book Carmella to drop the title to Asuka ahead of WWE’s upcoming tour of Japan.
Veteran professional wrestling journalist Bryan Alvarez noted that Carmella is incredibly over with the fans right now and has a ton of charisma. However, Carmella’s in-ring skills are not as great as 'The Empress of Tomorrow', and the former isn’t likely to defeat Asuka.
Furthermore, it’s being insinuated that Asuka is indeed the favorite to dethrone Carmella, and win the SmackDown Women’s Championship next month.

WWE’s Money In The Bank PPV takes place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on June 17th.

Carmella is a powerhouse on the mic and seems to be improving on the mat as well.
It should be intriguing to see how Carmella matches up with Asuka when the two aggressive Superstars finally square off with the title on the line at Money In The Bank.
