From the WWE Rumor Mill: Golberg to be inducted into the Hall of Fame 2018
What's the story?
As per rumor roundup on Cageside seats, Twitter user Brad Shephard has reported that Goldberg will be headlining the 2018 WWE Hall of Fame.
When Goldberg returned to WWE after hiatus of 12 years last year, many people thought that he would be an inductee in the HOF this year; it looks like he will indeed be headlining HOF this year if reports are to be believed.
In case you didn't know...
Goldberg made his return to WWE last year at Survivor Series after being out of in-ring action for nearly 12 years.
He went on to defeat Brock Lesnar in under 2 minutes at Survivor series and also defeated Kevin Owens to become the Universal Champion at the Fastlane PPV.
Goldberg, however, lost the Universal Championship to Brock Lesnar in their rematch at WrestleMania; and Lesnar has held the Championship ever since.
The former world champion then addressed the RAW crowd after WrestleMania stating "never say never" and that he might be back again.
The heart of the matter
Many people speculated that after the Undertaker's match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania last year Taker would be the one to headline HOF 2018; however, it looks like it is going to be Goldberg.
Goldberg was a major part of WCW during it's later stages and boasted of the longest undefeated streak in wrestling history up until Asuka broke it last year.
Goldberg came to WWE in 2003 and stayed with the company for just one year before leaving.
What's next?
If Goldberg is indeed being inducted into the Hall of Fame then it is unlikely that he will be having a match at Wrestlemania.
On the flipside, the reason why Undertaker may not be headlining HOF could be that he will be having a match at WrestleMania as he hasn't officially retired yet.
Author's take
Goldberg has been an icon in the world of sports-entertainment for a long time and it is good to see that he will finally get an induction into the HOF.
