From the WWE Rumor Mill: Possible spoiler about Bobby Lashley's WWE return
What's the story?
Fans have been frothing at the mouth for an opportunity to see Bobby Lashley return to WWE and square off against Brock Lesnar. According to Bin Hamin, one of the hosts on the Vince Russo Brand Podcast, the word is that Lashley may make his WWE debut either after the WrestleMania main event, or the night after WrestleMania 34, on brand RAW.
Thanks to Ring Side News for the heads up. It's also ironic that Wikipedia describes Lashley as a WWE superstar that currently performs on the RAW brand.
In case you didn't know...
Lashley performed in WWE between the years 2005 and 2008. He achieved the most amount of success outside WWE, both in the world of MMA and also in Impact Wrestling where he won a whole lot of gold.
Fans have wanted to see him square off against Brock Lesnar in a dream match and Dave Meltzer had also speculated that the two men may have a program following WrestleMania.
The heart of the matter
Bin Hamin is someone that is well connected in WWE, and he was told from sources within the company that Bobby Lashley will return to the company either at WrestleMania, following the match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, or the following night on RAW, which is where a lot of debuts/returns usually happen.
While no further details have been mentioned, it is clear that WWE would want to head into a Lashley-Lesnar direction, going forward. WWE has often been accused of not giving fans what they want, and they can right a wrong with this decision.
What's next?
We're only days away from WrestleMania, where the next chapter of this thrilling saga should play out for the WWE Universe.
Author's take
I saw Lashley perform during Impact Wrestling's India tapings and he is now far better than he was during his initial WWE run. Lashley could be a really valuable player for the brand, and if Lesnar goes to UFC, even take up his spot.
I would love to see him mix it up with Braun Strowman or Roman Reigns, in due time.
