From the WWE Rumor Mill: Is the WWE turning Braun Strowman babyface?
What's the story?
Dave Meltzer talked about the WWE Tables Ladders & Chairs main event on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.
He believes that the WWE is turning Braun Strowman face based on the events that occurred in the 5-on-3 handicap match at last night's pay per view.
In case you didn't know...
After successfully competing in the Strongman circuit, Strowman became a professional wrestler by signing with the WWE in 2014.
Oddly enough, one of Strowman's first appearances was a complete departure to the Monster Among Men we know of today, he was frequently one of Adam Rose's Rosebuds.
The heart of the matter
During the Tables Ladders & Chairs main event match, Kane accidentally hit Strowman with a chair, which started the friction between the two monsters. The friction escalated on the entrance stage when Kane chokeslammed Strowman off the stage and then dropped several chairs on him that were dangling above as part of the set.
Strowman recovered and started attacking his teammates, who eventually got the advantage and tossed him into the garbage truck that Miz had brought to the arena.
There are two major reasons for turning Strowman babyface. For one, he is already garnering a positive reaction from the crowd because he's been so impressive this year. The other that Meltzer mentions is that there are fresh feuds that Strowman can have as a babyface wrestler.
What's next?
The Miz better hope that he has Cesaro, Sheamus, and Kane close to him on Monday Night Raw tonight, because you can expect The Monster Among Men to show up looking for blood.
Early rumours are that Strowman could join The Shield for a Survivor Series-style match on the November 19th pay per view.
Author's take
I think it will be a successful move to turn Strowman babyface. The WWE Universe already gives him a monster ovation (pardon the pun) every time he comes out because of how impressive he's been.
The work he's done inside and out of the ring puts him in the conversation for being wrestler of the year in 2017, and becoming a good guy will only add to his resume of great work.
I am definitely looking forward to a babyface run for Strowman, and maybe as a babyface, he can re-enter the conversation with Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Universal Championship that Strowman deserves.
