From the WWE Rumor Mill: Jeff Hardy arrested for allegedly driving while impaired
Jeff Hardy may be close to recovering from injury, but his latest arrest may be delay his return to the company.
Hardy was arrested for allegedly driving while impaired at 10:20 p.m. on March 10 but was released about an hour later at 11: 24 p.m. according to a report originally published by PWInsider.
The arrest was made in Carrabus County, North Carolina and resulted in Hardy having his driver’s license suspended as part of a pretrial revocation.
Hardy has been out of action since he suffered an injury to his shoulder injury during a Six-Pack Challenge on the 17th September 2017 edition of RAW.
A week later, he was evaluated and revealed to have torn his labrum and rotator cuff. He had surgery in October and was given a time frame of four to six months to return.
Hardy’s recovery timetable should have him projected to return soon and the pending match at the Hardy Compound between Bray Wyatt and “Woken” Matt Hardy could have had an appearance by Jeff returning as Brother Nero, but in light of current events, the company may not be so quick to bring him back.
A similar situation occurred back in January involving Jey Uso, who was also arrested for alleged driving while intoxicated, but the WWE only issued the following statement regarding Jey:
“Joshua Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions. We are investigating the matter and awaiting information from local law enforcement officials."
Given the similar circumstances, its possible that the WWE will issue a similar statement soon and will wait to see how Hardy’s case progresses.
Jeff Hardy has two prior violations under WWE’s wellness policy, so any substance other than marijuana or alcohol found in his system would warrant a third strike – which would mean termination from the company.
If Hardy was under the influence of marijuana or alcohol, then he will have to pay a $2,500 fine.
Jeff Hardy is expected to return to Cabarrus County Court on April 16.
