From the WWE Rumor Mill: Jimmy Jacobs fired due to Bullet Club Invasion
What’s the Story?
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that WWE Creative Writer Jimmy Jacobs is no longer working for the WWE and the cause seems to be his appearing with The Bullet Club during the Invasion parody.
In Case You Didn’t Know...
Jacobs is a professional wrestler who made his name wrestling for Ring of Honor. During his 12-year career with ROH, Jacobs dominated the tag team division winning two tag team tournaments and winning the ROH Tag Team Championships five times.
Jacobs made a sporadic appearance on WWE programming through the years and joined the WWE’s creative team as a writer in 2015 and worked as a backstage producer.
The Heart of the Matter
The Bullet Club parodied the D-Generation-X invasion of WCW from the Attitude Era and gathered outside of Monday Night Raw on September 25. Jacobs seemingly had no hand in the orchestration or execution of the parody, but allegedly landed in hot water due to this photo he took with The Bullet Club.
The photo includes several hashtags plugging both Raw, WWE and the Bullet Club Invasion and may have been one of the biggest problems that the company allegedly had with this.
WWE was reportedly angered by the Bullet Club’s parody and sent the Young Bucks to cease and desists shortly after this for the usage of the 'Two Sweet' hand gesture. This also led to a response from The Young Bucks who created new t-shirts mocking the cease and desist letter from WWE and uploaded a response on their YouTube channel Being the Elite.
What’s Next?
Many fans were angered by the WWE’s decision to send cease and desist to the members of the Bullet Club and the alleged firing of Jacobs will more than likely add fuel to the fire.
Jacobs is currently trending on Twitter and while there are some in support of the WWE”s decision, a lot of fans are claiming the WWE is hypocritical for not addressing AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn appearing with The Young Bucks in photos.
Author’s Take
WWE’s problems with The Bullet Club have already earned them some ire from the fans, but adding Jacobs’ situation will only make things worse. However, there has been no confirmation from either side which gives us no place to question the move. It will be interesting to see how this story unfolds.
